Qigong & Meditation
My journey into meditation began in July 2020, sparked by a friend’s challenge to meditate daily for two weeks. The profound experiences during this period led me to a silent retreat in 2023, where I immersed myself in meditation for 8-10 hours daily. While the retreat was incredible, I found myself yearning for movement. This longing brought me to Qigong, a dynamic form of meditation that combines intentional movements, breathwork, and focused intention to foster health, longevity, and stress relief. Qigong shares a common thread with Pilates and sports—the principle of slow, deliberate movements that gently stretch the fascia, strengthen muscles, and create harmony between body and mind. This principle of ‘effortless effort’ beautifully translates to Pilates, sports, and life in general, turning resistance into a tool for growth.
I encourage all my clients to explore meditation for stress reduction and general well-being. When welcome, I incorporate Qigong, sometimes as a warm-up, a full movement set, or drawing only on its principles. Various meditation techniques and Qigong have proved invaluable to me in navigating daily life, staying focused in horseback riding, and staying calm when frustration threatens to take me over in a round of golf.
Things I enjoy the most…
My husband and I split our time between NYC and Kingston, New York. I love taking riding lessons and working in the garden when I'm not teaching or practicing Pilates. I feel so fortunate to live in the best of both worlds with our 2 dogs, Billie and Willow, whom we rescued in the fall of 2019.
When I’m in the city, I absolutely love being there and feeling the amazing energy of NYC. I go to yoga, get acupuncture, see friends, and work out of a beautiful studio in Soho or see clients in their homes. When I’m upstate, I am so happy I can spend time at the stables, learning to ride, playing a round or two of Golf with my husband, or getting my hands dirty gardening in our yard.
